oh sorry.. one more thing to add to my above post... a GOOD parent probably wouldn't open the window in the winter if that's where the crib is... they wouldn't want their child to catch a cold
um.. and its usually the screen windows on the windows.. not the actual glass window that pops out.

IT WAS THE FRAME!!!!!!!
And no tomatoe for you!!!! That's Buffy's job!!!
And let's just say, SCRAP WINTER, what about in the Fall?? (Seriously bad pun) It's always in the summer!!!
@X: How many 11 storey houses do you know of ???
I fell out of my second floor window (which probably explains EVERYTHING) but that's because my uncle (who was 19 at the time) was "supervising". Who knows where the hell he was???!!!
If anyone is going to the Colombian party this weekend, you'll find my uncle there!!!
@Dogo: True, freak accident BUT the parents were aware of the window being faulty and the SUPER was aware. Like Princessa said, if I knew the window was busted, I'd hound that Super like no tomorrow or fix it myself.

but don't u find it funny that most of this kind accidents only happens to people that live in buildings?
~X
funny indeed
my family lived in apartment buildings when i was a kid and i used to be terrified of the balcony... i remember there being chairs and stools where all the adults would go chill out in the balcony.. the kids would just climb up and peek over... no one ever jumped tho... thank God

I feel really sorry for this family (yesterdays accident) and I buy the argument that accidents with kids happen in a split second... but living on the 11th floor, with a toddler, and having the balcony or windows accesible to be opened by children on their own, without any type extra security, is plain irresponsible
The poping out of the window, well... that is really an unfortunate/freak accident

@ MJ.. 'cause that's when the doors and windows are open ALL the time
THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!!!!
Faulty windows are faulty windows all year round.
well a silly question deserce an obvious answer
~X
How is it silly?
I wasn't referring to how windows and doors are open during summer.
I'm referring to a faulty window.
Last year, a little boy was standing up in his crib and he leaned against the window. The frame popped out and he fell.
Does this mean frames only pop out in the summer?
MJ WROTE: Granted.
I just can't justify the idiots who park a crib next to a faulty window which was the case last year!!
I wonder why this stuff only happens in summer???
Luna says: to be fair you DID talk about faulty windows etc... HOWEVER, you hit enter... creating a new paragraph which would lead one to believe that this is an independent thought from the previous paragraph. You ask stupid questions, you get stupid answers...
ok.. i feel a tomato coming my way.... gotta go

im going to keep these threads until u guys become parents...but to an extent ur right....but personally there is no bigger punishment then loosing ur child......

@ confu - no I'm not sayin that but if he dies cus he falls out of a balcony when u should be takin care of him, then YES I think the parent should be punished. I mean if this happend while the kid was at a babysitter, daycare, etc. they would be in trouble, so I think the rules whould be all around.
I understand kids can be in times faster then us & either get hurt, lost etc. But to fall out of a window or belcony...only lets me think that ur not watching them good enough as a parent.
I mean if I live in a building & have a balcony, trust me..... I will do everything & anything in my power to block the balcony door properly & if my windows were defaulted I will make the supers life misserbly until i get it fixed.
Not payin attn to secure measure, precautions etc. put any parents to be blamed & should be punished.
i was listening to the radio this morning... they said this is the 11th balcony incident since May. THAT'S INSANE!!!!!!!! I'm with Boof on this... I'm 50/50 on this as well. You can turn your back for a split second so you can grab a juice box for your kid and he's already figured out a way to unlatch the screen door, push the stool to the ledge and look over. These kids aren't suicidal or anything but just curious.. they want to know what's behind this big wall that all the adults can see over but they can't. It's sad, regardless
PS: For a good freak show to go www.guadaeatsratwhiskers.com
I'm 50/50 on this one. I used to think like you too, but it takes literally a second for the little brats to get in trouble... A SECOND... and in that second they come up with the plan, execute it and provide statistics... Kids can be so friggin' creative to get in trouble. They should develop a kid cage, to keep them locked up for the first 18 years.
Yah but.. thats why the adult is the parent.... b/c adults know, or should know, to look out for their kids. Kids are kids, and they dont have the same capacity or mentality to make sound decisions for themselves...
Oh btw, here is a linkage to that email you sent me: (so sad)
WHAT THE F@CK IS UP WITH THESE KIDS FALLING OFF BALCONIES????!!!!
I know it's difficult to have your eye on your child 24/7 but there are safety precautions to take. No? I remember my parents installed this thingy that every time I opened the balcony door, it would chime.
parents are careless... or se confian mucho in that the little baby will have enough knowledge not to fall off.
some people
