For what? so you can commit crimes? and have the rest of the normal (as in non-millionaire) population dislike you?

He predicted he would be found innocent. But in the end, the recalcitrant and sometimes belligerent Conrad Black was wrong. The Canadian mogul has been found guilty of four of 13 charges in a Chicago courtroom, including two counts of obstructing justice and mail fraud. He was found not culpable of the serious charge of racketeering and another mail fraud count.
Black is said to have sat stonefaced while the verdict was read, clearly disappointed that he wasn't completely exonerated as he'd been expecting. The jury was able to come to a decision on the charges just days after complaining it was hopelessly deadlocked. Black and three others were accused of defrauding some $60 million in non-compete payments from stockholders in the Hollinger chain the millionaire founded and built up into a major media empire. Other charges centred on the $20 million he supposedly used to finance a lavish lifestyle at his company's expense.
The jury, made up of nine women and three men, heard more than four months of often excruciatingly technical testimony, highlighted by more than 40 witnesses and the confessions of Black's former right hand man David Radler. They'd deliberated for eight very long days, and had told Judge Amy St. Eve they were deadlocked over several counts. She instructed them to try again and as so often happens in these kinds of cases, they responded with a decision late Friday morning.
It's not yet clear what the guilty verdicts mean or what the penalties against him will be, but he could face as much as 35 years in jail and forfeit millions of dollars in property. It's too soon to say if he'll appeal the convictions.
