If you want something different, check out Wild Water Kingdom on July 7th for LatinUrban Splash.  An all day Latin event.  thumbsup.gif

Yea Danny, you're right, NYC is always coming out with something and someone new. But New York sells itself, you know what I mean! LOL.

Even their parades always feature celebs. Did you see the Puerto Rican Day parade? Lost of big names on the floats.

You know what T.O needs? A radio station like La Mega. Latino based radio, but they play anything and everything. We need a Latino FLO (93.5). But Flo plays alot of latin stuff too, so I've gotta give it to them!

But we still need a radio station 24/7....none of these AM programs that only play latin music for 2 hours and its always when everyone is either out partying on a Saturday night, or really early on a weekday morning, lol.

Right?confused

I use to go to New York almost every summer when I was a student and yes I agree.  The festival there are amazing.  I went to the dominican and ecuadorian ones....great, they can't compare to the one here.  I'm sure the have young promoters though and they know what the people want.

Tony Reyes festival are ok, except, I'm not sure I like the location - Downsview Park and parking is a nightmare.  The sound is not clear and a lot of bass from what I remember last year.

I think the set up was better before.  We need new organizers with a different vision.  Last year I was involved with Christie Pits program and the problem is the organizers sometimes don't want change and resist it.

Toronto needs to learn from NY ..holy s***if you guys ever been to the hispanic festivals there your jaw would drop jawdrop.gif packed and im talking about rammmmmmed ...good artists , presentations etc...
The times Ive gone i attended  the ecuadorian dominican and colombian ones and these are not just average festivals..they are parades and they close down certain areas..

Toronto can do the same dont you guys think?

I was there on sunday a few minutes, then I left and went to the gay parade and then I was back for 8:30pm.  I guess I always expect something will be different but not.   True you see people you haven't seen in ages and I guess that can be good or bad depending on how your friendship ended off ....lol.

I doubt I'm going to anymore.  The food is what I have a home without all that grease lol so I don't really eat.

The latin fests back in the day (wonderland, christie park, ontario place (which had 2 every summer) and harbourfront) were the best. The years were from 1994-1998, and then it all went down from there.

I think the problem was the fact that the sponsors had pulled out. And of course, not to mention the numerous fights that dominated Ontario Place and Wonderland for the entire summers, lol. Actually, Ontario Places' excuse for not hosting The Tropical Fest anymore was the fact that one of the main sponsors Benson and Hedges, had pulled out of all events due to the whole non-smoking movement.

Maybe we're just getting too old for this, lol.

Maybe now, we're on the otherside and looking in! idea oh how I missed the days!

The Ontario Place Tropical Fest (always held in August) was the best.

Every year it is the same thing...same artists, music and set up etc...

After 15 mins I wanted to leave but unfortunately I was stuck there for a bit longer.  The only good thing is that I met some people and chatted a bit.

Are there no good spanish festivals in Toronto?
