As God said... Rioplatense means Del area de el Rio de La Plata
However generally speaking "Rioplatense" would refer to Portenios (Buenos Aires) and "musica rioplatense" would mean the rock and pop popular in that area. And it generally, at least 'round here, refers to pop and latin rock that was popular in the mid 80s to early 90s.... OR as it turns out, nowadays, also cuarteto and cumbia villera (which sounds nothing like cumbia) and they sound horrible, IMO
