Hey Danny, sorry but becuase of my work I was lucky to go to those countries. If it was up to me I would visit every single latin country I got the chance to.

Samyprez, excellent comment but I was trying to argue that malls, fast-food and all that american culture is rapidly spreading accross Latin America even more than before. Not saying its a bad thing completly but thats the way it is. Corruption was always there and is still thriving...

YO vivi por 6 años en N.Y and later about 4 in Chicago.

One can't compare the GHETTO areas of NYC to our (Toronto's) Ghetto... our city is still young in comparison to NYC - therefore, our buildings are much newer and our ghetto areas look much sweeter.

Yes you are probably right, althought, personally I don not consum most of those product you gave as examples.

We DO live in North America, after all, you know but I think the spirit and mentality of the pple here are very diferent. I would have never decided to go and live in the US but yet i decided to make the move her in Canada, like many other inmigrants.

Both are very young countries and if you are trying to compare them with Central/South America and Europe which are made of countries with centuries of history.... well you spimply can't.

This part of the globe was basically borned yesterday compare to the rest of it and yet it is a mixture of the most of the place you've heard about with pple coming from everywhere. Well I see that a something very valuable, that you might not be able to find everywhere else and that you need to appriciate and show interest to.

Someone even started me a Bollywood collection *ejem*ejem... you know who you are ! LOL

I don't know, I think you need a nice coffee and to step outside wnd try to enjoy this very nice day wink.gif

worship.gif I agree with you 100% Julie....  we are probably similar to our neighbours but we don't have the arrogance and mentality they do..... Thank god for that...

I love Canada (Toronto Rocks!!!!) even if I have to drive 45 minutes to be there cry

Toronto is definately one of the top AMERICAN cities! Sure we don't have the excitement of New York, the history of Boston, the great architecture of Chicago, the beauty of San Francisco but we have everything else. Our streets are filled with McDonalds, Wendy's, Taco Bells, Starbucks, 7-11's. We have the same mall culture and flock to big-box stores like Best Buy, Old Navy, Home Depot, Wal-Mart... Budweiser is now the number one selling beer in Ontario and we can drink it at Hooters, Outback, Pizza Hut. We have the NBA, MLB and can't wait for an NFL team! Our theatres are filled with all of our favourite Hollywood blockbusters and our number one TV shows are the same as in the good ole USA (just check your friends favourite lists). We pay $50-$100 a month for cable so that we won't miss the Oscars, Grammies, March-Madness, American Idol, Family Guy, Desperate Housewives... and can anyone forget how excited we were when Conan O'Brien came to town? We were obsessed with that for weeks!! We read American authors and magazines (Steven King, Cosmo, Maxim anybody?). We look like so much like America that film crews have only to change the flags and mailboxes and TA DA...we are Cleveland or Pittsburgh! (but NEVER Toronto) Our dreary suburbs look identical to any south of the border and we drive on the same traffic-clogged freeways to work at our US branch plant head offices. Our Bay street banks and stock market follow Wall Street's direction. Way to go Toronto! Capital of the State of Ontario
