The term has found its way into Urbandictionary.com., an online forum of popular slang.
Its definition: ``A girl of Hispanic origin, usually between the ages of 12 and 19, but sometimes as young as 8. Primarily found in Miami (most famously, in Hialeah). She wears ridiculously large hoop earrings, large enough to be bracelets, which are usually gold and have their name written in them, and diamond studs high up on her ears.''

That hair, those hoops . . . 'Chonga' Girls find fame
A tongue-in-cheek video by two Aventura teens spoofing a dress style has become a hit on the airwaves and cyberspace.
The magic starts with a heaping glob of electric blue L.A. Looks hair gel. Then comes the extra coating of $1.07 Beauty Glamorous Extra Hold hair spray. So begins the transformation of 17-year-olds Mimi Davila and Laura Di Lorenzo from your typical T-shirt-and-jeans-wearing high school juniors to chongas.
Not just your typical chongas; they are ''The Chongalicious Girls'' whose song recorded as an antidote to boredom is becoming a runaway hit on the airwaves and cyberspace.
What started out as a homemade music video shot among best friends spoofing the way certain teens dress has gotten more than 388,000 hits on YouTube.com and is the most requested song on WPOW-FM (96.5), or Power 96.
''They're beating out people like Justin Timberlake,'' said Power 96 promotions director Kenny Bernstein. ``Everyone wants to hear Chongalicious.''
