Here are some tips:

1. Don't bring your coffee when you're receiving communion.
2. Clap only AFTER the priest says, 'Go in peace'
3. You ARE allowed to push slow old ladies out of your way
4. Lift the kneeler while people are still kneeling (sometimes they forget to sit up again)
5. The church has condoned the use of the term 'Sup' in lieu of 'Peace be with you' when giving peace.

Hope this helps

I'm enjoying mass, though, even though I get angry sometimes at the backward thinking, but the priest is pretty good and interesting, and he seems fairly open-minded.

Anyhoo, I also don't know when to kneel, when to sit, when to stand up. In short, I don't know mass protocol. Any tips would certainly be appreciated.

@Guada - no, it's Padre Carlos.  I think Padre David went back to Colombia, that's the last I heard

Thanks, mang! This will definitely help!

BTW, Padre David used to put me to His masses were mass-athons. I only went to that church a couple of times, and one of the two I was forced 'cause I was the godmother of my nephew.

I’ve said it before: Padre David was one of my favourites as well… Every time I went, he left me thinking about the message he was trying to give during mass… by the time, I got home, however, I was back in sinning mode!

Lucifer, i mean LG, you're funny

Luna, you just do the sign of the cross on your forehead, over your lips and then over your heart, that's it, the full percino step is extra!

i know porque when doing confirmation el padre dijo esto. so it's straight from the source.

I know what you mean! My mother taught me the "Por la señal de la santa cruz..." and here they just do three quick crosses and say something else... So I just do the Spanish version.

@ Colo: I go to English mass 'cause the Spanish churches are too far for me. Not that I know those responses any better.

First you do the sign of the cross on your forehead (up down then left right).
Next you slap yourself on the mouth/lips area for all the bad things and gossiping you’ve said during the week.
To end it, you rub your belly thanking the lord for all the food you’ve had that week.

You’re welcome!

I prefer Spanish mass as well. I really like the church that I go to now. The priest is awesome. He is so funny and so down to earth (and Colombian. LOL). I also have a friend who plays in the choir and I love the songs that the choir sings. And the plus side to this is that my kids get to hear the service in Spanish, which benefits them.

Same here girl.  Must be a Scorpio thing  R u going to English or Spanish mass? As for the kneeling and standing, just follow everyone else.  LOL.  Or the priest usually says "De pie".  The kneeling usually takes place before the blessing of the eucharist and before and after the sign of peace.  The responses are not that complicated, come on girl

Marky, you forgot the following: (Buffy take note)

While on the bench, make sure your jacket takes up at least half of it. Even if no one else is actually coming to sit there.

When people are leaving, stand by the holy water bowl by the doors, wet your hands, and sprinkle people on the face.

yeah i only have two, marky did a good-er job.

Good for you – please say a prayer or two for me!

I think there is another book that has the responses - if worse comes to worse, GOOGLE mass service and print it out!
