Ok, i see!! Well if that's the case, and won his Refugee case. He will now have to make an application to receive his papers. He can go online www.cic.gc.ca and print out the form, it's called "application for landing as a protected person". He has to do it within 180 days.
They will NOT send it to him automatically, he has to send in an application.

and thanks for the help on this topic

What did he get accepted on? Did he win his Stay at Federal court? If so, that does not mean he will be permanently in Canada, that is just the first step. He needs talk to his lawyer.

Trust me, Latinos and all illegal-immigrants have been marrying gringas for papers here since the 80s probably even the 70s. Immigration aint dumb and caught on this a while ago. Besides, marrying some one for papers costs a few thousand dollars...just ask around here if u dont believe me. A gay guy would probably do it for free out of pure compassion for your friend's case/story.

Time to change the game....get a little creative...

If  they are going to deport him, they will put him in that hotel / motel at the airport until the first flight back, or send him to his original point of entry.  If he came through the states, say, buffalo, they wilil send him back over there.  Now, if his passport is not valid or he doesnt have a US visa, he is screwed becaause he will be put in prison anywhere from 6months to 2 years, left to the american justice system until they deport him from there to Colombia.  Thats how it works, a close friend of mine just went through this.  However, he wasnt a refugee, so Immigration set a bond fee when they nabbed him, so we posted it up (it was 4,000 buckaroos) and he was let go and applied as a refugee in order to have a status.  So yes, get a good lawyer (I can get the information of an amazing one, he used to be an immigration judge) but his only solution will be to get married to someone with the papers, and even then there is still a chance they will deport his ass.  Just telling you what I know because my group of friends just went through it with a close buddy of ours.

Can this article be use in this case???

Art. 25(1) of Immigration and Refugee Protection Act

The Minister shall, upon request of a foreign national who is inadmissible or who does not meet the requirements of this Act, and may, on the Minister's own initiative, examine the circumstances concerning the foreign national and may grant the foreign national permanent resident status or an exemption from any applicable criteria or obligation of this Act if the Minister is of the opinion that it is justified by humanitarian and compassionate considerations relating to them, taking into account the best interests of a child directly affected, or by public policy considerations.

Like i said, he need to contact a lawyer. Information that DP gave is not enough. A lawyer needs to review his case. And who knows maybe he could start a Humanitarian and Compassionate applicaiton.

Anyhoo, you can tell your friend to contact me for more information.

When did he apply for Refugee? But it's not his hearing, because that will take place at the Immigration building in the Downtown area. It may actually be to report, but that doesn't really happen when the Refugee claim is in process.

He needs to contact a lawyer for his issue. He may also want to call the office to find out what it's for.

Tell your friend to get a fake New Brunswick drivers license downtown.
They cost $15 and will be cheaper than a lawyer.
Worked for me when I wanted to club before I was legal

I don't have any advice but I'm curious what you mean by 'he signed on as a refugee'.   Do you mean he applied with refugee status before arriving to Canada or after being in Canada for 2 years?

I would think that it would be in his favour if he had applied for refugee status sooner rather than later.
